Water cisterns: Many homes on well water supply have storage cisterns which hold about 3000 gallons. If these have a fitting which allows fire hose connections, we can use the water to fight fire at your house or a nearby neighbor's house. We have also seen rainwater collection systems which serve the same purpose for firefighting. If we verify the fitting and you agree to let us use the water, we provide a letter which you can give your insurance company. Sometimes that gets a rate reduction. Swimming pools have from 10.000 to 25,000 gallons. We can use 1/2 to 2/3 of this water to fight fire in your neighborhood. We have portable pumps to transfer the water to one of our engines for transport or to a folding tank to supply an attack engine.
